OTTO WARBURG
1910Voor zijn ontdekking en de werking kreeg hij in 1931 de Nobelprijs voor de Fysiologie of Geneeskunde. Hij onderzocht het metabolisme van tumoren en de dissimilatie, met name bij kankercellen.
KONSTANTIN BUTEYKO
1962In februari 1962 heeft Buteyko een octrooi gekregen voor zijn ontdekking over de behandeling van hemohypocarbia (“een tekort aan kooldioxide in de alveolaire lucht” en “de koolstoftheorie van de ademhaling”).
ROBERT F. FURCHGOTT
1998In 1998 werd de Nobelprijs voor de Fysiologie of Geneeskunde toegekend aan de groep wetenschappers Robert F. Furchgott, Louis J. Ignarro en Ferid Murad.
De prijs werd toegekend naar aanleiding van de ontdekking "nitric oxide als het signalerende molecuul in het cardiovasculaire systeem".
JIM ROTHMAN
2013In 2013 kreeg hij samen met Randy Schekman en Thomas Südhof de Nobelprijs voor de Fysiologie of Geneeskunde voor hun ontdekkingen van het mechanisme dat het belangrijkste transportsysteem in onze cel regelt.
